This DAY RIDE from September 29, 2010 is re-posted here from our old website:
On Wednesday, September 29th we woke to a beautiful cool morning and took off on another day ride. We left our home in North Knoxville around 10:30am. It was a cool morning- around 55 degrees- so we both wore chaps, jacket and face masks. We took off riding north on Broadway to Norris Freeway. On Norris Freeway, we took 170 and rode it north all the way to 33, just north of Maynardville.
We were able to manage one stop for photos on 170. It’s a beautiful rode with many, many sites to see.
Once on 33, we rode through New Tazewell, then through Harrogate on our way to Cumberland Gap. We stopped in Cumberland Gap for lunch at Webb’s Cafe, then walked around town a little before getting back on the bikes.
Then we headed back to Harrogate.
Then we stopped at the Abraham Lincoln Museum on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.
After the museum we gassed up, took 63 and rode to LaFollette where we stopped at McDonald’s to get a drink and shed some of our leather.
From LaFollette, we rode through Caryville to Lake City and then through Clinton. Then we took Clinton Highway back to Knoxville and then home. We got back home around 4pm and our total ride was 138 miles.
