DAY RIDE – SEPTEMBER 21, 2010

On Tuesday, September 21st, we took another day ride to finalize the route for our “Fun Run” on Sunday October 3, 2010. Last week, we scouted a route and on Tuesday, we rode the route in its entirety.

First we stopped for breakfast at Waffle House– a favorite for many bikers.

Then we went to Biker Rags to begin the ride around 11am. From Biker Rags we took Pellissippi Parkway all the way to Maryville Pike. We headed north on Maryville Pike to John Sevier Highway and then rode to Asheville Highway. From there we headed north to Jefferson City where we jumped on 92.

We stopped at our first scheduled stop for the Fun Run at Lakeview Market- 55 miles into the run.

After a few minutes, we got back on 92 and then stopped at Cherokee Dam. For the Fun Run, we will only be riding by, but since we had more time today, we wanted to get a few shots.

We parked our bikes and walked to the top of the Dam, where the view is amazing.

After about 15 minutes, we got back on the bikes then back onto 92 and headed north.

We took a right onto 375 north and stopped along the way to get a few shots of the road view.

This road, 375 north, goes all the way to 25E. When we got to 25E, we went north again and stopped briefly at the Veterans Overlook. We will only be riding by this site during the Fun Run.

Then we proceeded back on 25E going north to Bean Station. We stopped along the way to take pictures of the view from the road.

After Bean Station, we took 131 to Washburn, and then onto Luttrell. From Luttrell we stayed on 131 and stopped for gas at the Marathon station in Plainview- which will be our second stop on the Fun Run. Mileage at this point is right at 110 miles.

From Plainview, we stayed on 131 back to Knoxville. 131 brought us back to the 4-way in Halls, where we took a left and ended our ride in Halls at the K-Mart shopping center parking lot.

This is where we will end our Fun Run on Sunday October 3rd. There is a McDonald’s, Gatti’s Pizza, Burger King, Kobe Japanese Grill and several other restaurants within walking distance of the parking lot.
