This DAY RIDE from November 10, 2010 is re-posted here from our old website:
On Wednesday, November 10th, the weather was beautiful for another day ride. We left our home in North Knoxville around 10am. The temperature was 45°, so we both wore jackets, chaps, face masks and our 3/4 helmets with shields. We knew it would warm up later in the day, but that’s the beauty of motorcycle gear– you can take off layers as it warms.
We rode down Broadway to Chapman Highway, then took Old Maryville Pike to Maryville where we stopped off to fill up on gas.
After filling up we rode through downtown Maryville to 411. We traveled a few miles on 411 then got on 129 heading toward the Dragon. We turned onto 72, before the Dragon, and headed toward Vonore.
At Vonore, we stopped at the Countryside Restaurant for lunch. It’s right on 411 next to the Weigels Store. We’ve eaten there before and once again the food was fantastic.
We got to the restaurant right at noon, and it was crowded as usual. They seated us in one of the last available tables and we both had meatloaf. If you like great home cooking and friendly folks, make it a point to stop in at the Countryside Restaurant.
After lunch we headed north on 72 and rode to Loudon.
We parked downtown to walk around and check out all the little shops. Downtown Loudon is attractive and looks very quaint. There are several restaurants, several small boutiques, and a really nice looking antique shop.
After walking around awhile, we got back on the bikes and rode through Lenoir City and into West Knoxville. We stopped in Biker Rags to get a drink and see Silas.
We hung out for awhile, then got back on the bikes. We took Lovell Road to Pellissippi Parkway to Western Avenue. From Western Avenue we rode into Knoxville and headed back to the house.
We arrived home around 3pm and our total ride was right at 107 miles.
