On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, we took a Day Ride. Our mission – to ride our planned route for the Jeff and Pamo Fun Run coming up on Saturday, April 30th.
Jeff kicks off the day in this short video:
Our Fun Runs are when we invite everyone to come for a ride from Biker Rags. We have pizza and drinks before the ride and make a fun day of it.
We always like to pre-plan our Fun Runs mostly to check out the mileage for gas stops and to see if there are any unusual road or construction projects going on.
Today we left our home around 10:30am and rode to Biker Rags to begin the run.

We left Biker Rags around 11:15am – took Pellissippi Parkway to Edgemoor.

From Edgemore,we traveled down Melton Lake Drive to 62. 62 took us into Oliver Springs.

We then continued on to Wartburg where we stopped to check our mileage and fill our tanks.

From Wartburg we continued north on 62 through Sunbright.

Jeff talks about our ride so far:

We then continued on to Elgin. Just a few miles north of Elgin at about 62 miles into the ride is a nice gas station with a large parking lot and restrooms. This will be our first stop on our Fun Run.
We continued on 62 into Huntsville and took 63 through Huntsville.

From 63 we took Old 63, an old two lane road that used to be the only way to Huntsville before the interstate.

Old 63 took us into Caryville where we rode south on 25W to Rocky Top where we determined the Weigel’s will be our second rest stop at about 115 miles into the run.
From Rocky Top we took Norris Freeway over Norris Dam.

After riding over Norris Dam, we headed south back into Knox County where we took Raccoon Valley heading toward Clinton Highway.

From Clinton Highway, we took Edgemoor back to Pellissippi Parkway and back to Biker Rags.
Our total route for the Fun Run is right at 150 miles and it is scheduled for Saturday April 30th. We leave Biker Rags at 1:00pm. We hope you can join us!
After today’s ride we rode downtown to Market Square.
