This Day Ride from October 23, 2012 is re-posted here from our old website:
On Tuesday October 23rd, we took another Day Ride. Our destination was lunch in Jonesborough, TN. We left our home in North Knoxville at 10:30 am. The skies were sunny and blue and the temperature was 53 degrees. We both wore leather jackets and chaps, Olympia cold weather gloves, 3/4 pilot helmets and face warmers.
We rode through town to Chapman Highway, continued south through Sevierville and then stopped for crackers and a drink.
We quickly got back on 411 riding east through Chestnut Hill by the Bush Bean factory.
Continuing on 411, we stopped briefly in Newport to remove our face masks.
We then got on 25/70 South riding through Del Rio where we stopped to take a few photos of the beautiful scenery.
From 411, we took 107 through the mountains (a portion of Cherokee National Forest). We continued on through Tusculum, stopped for gas and then got on 321 (11E) and rode into Jonesborough.
Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee, has a quaint downtown with brick paved side walks and historic buildings. We parked and headed for the Creekside Restaurant for lunch.
We ate here in the spring and loved it, so we ordered the same meal- burgers, fries, onion rings and chocolate cake. Once again the food was great and the folks were very friendly.
After lunch, we walked around town to enjoy the ambiance.
Then we got back on the bikes heading back toward Knoxville. We took 11E from Jonesborough through Greenville, onto Mosheim and then into Morristown where we stopped for a cold drink.
We continued on 11E through Jefferson City, back into Knoxville and then home. We got back around 5:30 pm and our total mileage was 225 miles.
