This Day Ride from November 28, 2012 is re-posted here from our old website:
On Wednesday, November 28th, we took another Day Ride. Our destination was lunch in Athens.
The girls always get sad when we leave. Here is Butter and Cindy saying good bye.
And here’s Jeff ready to ride.
We took off from our home in North Knoxville around 10:30 am. The skies were mostly cloudy and the temperature was 38 degrees. We traveled on Oak Ridge Highway to Oak Ridge where we stopped to fill up.
We then took 95 to 58 and into Kingston where we stopped at the park to eat some crackers and visit with the ducks.
After our quick stop, we took 58 south to Decatur stopping along the way for a few photos.
In Decatur we took 30 going toward Athens.
In Athens, we stopped at Brownie’s for lunch.
The sign says Brownie’s has been there since 1961. It is a true old time roadside diner with old time tables, chairs and booths.
We both ordered hamburgers with fries and onion rings.
The food was good and the folks were friendly.
After lunch, we rode through downtown Athens and then took 304 north to 68.
We took 68 into Sweetwater where we stopped for gas and a drink then got back on the road.
We rode through Sweetwater and then took 322 to Vonore. In Vonore, we rode north on 411 and took 95 into Greenback.
We traveled through Greenback and into Maryville. We stopped along Maryville Pike for a few more photos.
We then rode back into Knoxville and back home. We got home around 4:30 pm and our total ride was 182 miles.
The girls were sure glad to see us home. Here’s Susie saying hello.
