This Day Ride from October 21, 2009 is re-posted here from our old website:
We woke up Wednesday morning to an absolutely beautiful day. It was cool- around 44°- but felt much warmer with all the sun.
We decided to go to the mountains and see if the colors had started to change. We put on our leathers- got on our bikes and decided to ride to the Foothills Parkway. We generally get on the Parkway every fall to see the colors- it has spectacular views- it’s a very gentle ride- and we usually see lots of other bikes.
We headed south on Alcoa Highway- took 321 North to Walland- and got on the Parkway. We stopped at a couple of the overlooks to get some good shots.

After riding the Parkway- we stopped at the Tallassee General Store for lunch.

After lunch, we headed back down 129 to Maryville. Even though the weather had warmed a little by lunchtime- we both kept our leathers on. After riding through Maryville- we got on Old Maryville Pike- rode back to Knoxville and headed on home.
We left around 10:30 am and got back around 2:30 pm. The total ride was about 98 miles. A really nice ride on a great fall day.
