On Thursday, October 6th, we took a Day Ride. Our destination was Tellico Plains.
It was a beautiful day with clear blue skies and temps starting out in the 60’s. The afternoon was forecast to reach the lower 80’s.
Jeff kicks off the day in this short video:
We left our home at 10:15am, headed out Western Avenue to Oak Ridge then 58 to Kingston where we stopped for a morning snack.

After fueling up we rode through Kingston taking 58 south to 304, the River Road. River Road runs along Watts Bar Lake all the way to Decatur.

In Decatur, we stopped briefly to take some photos and shed some of our gear since the weather was warming up.

We then continued on our ride, taking 30 East to Athens. We rode through Athens, then took 39 to Englewood.

From Englewood, we took 39 East through the mountains to Tellico Plains.

In Tellico Plains, we stopped at the Tellico Grains Bakery for lunch.

Next time you’re in Tellico Plains, be sure to check out the Tellico Grains Bakery for lunch or just to pick up some delicious baked goods.
After lunch, we took 360 to Ballplay Road.

Then we took a couple of wrong turns into a country neighborhood.

Once we got back on Ballplay Road we continued on into Madisonville. From Madisonville we took 411 to Morganton Road which took us all the way into Maryville.

Once in Maryville, we came back into Knoxville via Alcoa Highway.

We got back home at 5:30pm and our total ride was 197 miles.
