DAY RIDE SEPTEMBER 29, 2009

This Day Ride from September 29, 2009 is re-posted here from our old website:

Tuesday was a day off for us this week- and we woke to beautiful blue skies and chilly weather (around 50 degrees). A great day for a Day Ride.

We saddled up- gassed up on Broadway in North Knoxville, and headed on our way. We took off and rode north on Clinton Highway, through Clinton and up to Lake City. On the way to Lake City, the clouds rolled in and it felt more like late October than late September.

After a brief stop in Lake City, we took off on 116 toward Oliver Springs.

116 is really a nice road to ride, with it’s sweeping curves, great country views and limited traffic.

Before long we were in Oliver Springs and decided to stop for lunch.

After lunch, we rode through Oliver Springs and stopped to take a picture of an old building we’ve seen there for years.

If anyone knows what this building is or use to be, we'd really like to hear the story.

Back on the road, we headed toward Knoxville and stopped at the Harley shop on Clinton Highway.

After looking at all the great bikes and saying hello to some of the guys, we headed on home.

Our 80 mile day ride felt colder as the day wore on. We had on our leather jackets and cold weather gloves- but we agreed chaps would have been a nice addition.
