On Thursday, April 10, 2014, we took another Day Ride. Our destination was lunch in Rockwood, TN.
Jeff talks about our route in this short video:
We left our home in North Knoxville at 10am. The skies were clear blue but the temperature was chilly, around 46 degrees.
We rode north on Broadway to Norris Freeway, then rode Norris Freeway through Norris.

From Norris, we rode on to Norris Dam.

After snapping a few photos, we rode into Lake City and stopped at Weigel’s to refuel and get a quick snack.

From Lake City, we took 116 through Briceville and then onto 330.

Once in Oliver Springs, we took 61 toward Harriman. Just east of Harriman, we took 27 north, rode for a few miles toward Wartburg, then took 328.

328 is a very curvy road which took us up toward the Cumberland Plateau and through Oakdale.

From Oakdale, we took 299 which is the Airport Road up on the plateau. 299 took us over to interstate 40 west of Rockwood. We took I-40 for a few miles, then rode into Rockwood.
After riding for one hundred miles, we pulled up to the restaurant at 1:30pm. We discovered that Junior’s is now called Annie’s. Great food and great folks.

Here is a short video of our trip so far:
We rode out of Rockwood on 70 east into Kingston. From Kingston, we took Sugar Grove Valley Road which runs right along the Emory River.

Sugar Grove took us into Dyllis where we took Poplar Creek Road to Old Harriman Highway.

Old Harriman Highway took us back into Oliver Springs. From Oliver Springs we took 62 into Oak Ridge and then into Knoxville. We ended up at Biker Rags, the place to go of course!

We stayed at the store for awhile, then continued back home. We got home at 4:30pm and our total ride was 152 miles.
