DAY RIDE

JUNE 13, 2012

On Wednesday, June 13th, we took another Day Ride. Our destination was lunch in Cumberland Gap. Cindy watches from the bed while we get ready.

When we left our home in North Knoxville right at 10am, the temperature was cool and the sun shining. We headed north on Clinton Highway.  We rode through Clinton and on to Lake City where we stopped for a short break.

We then continued north to Caryville where we stopped briefly at Cove Lake.

We then continued onto LaFollette where we spotted a business called 'Crazy Freddies'. It was out of business, but was full of several old cars for sale- including three T-Bird's and a customized Corvette.

After admiring the old cars, we continued through LaFollette and onto 63, a long straight road surrounded by beautiful countryside. 63 runs north through Harrogut. From Harrogut, we went into Cumberland Gap where we had lunch at Webb's Country Kitchen.

The folks were friendly and the food was good. After lunch, we walked around town and took a few photos.

We then got back on the bikes, went back through Harrogut and headed south to Tazewell. In Tazewell, we filled up our tanks and then continued south toward Maynardville. Just north of Maynardville we took 170 South. 170 is a beautiful, winding road with rolling hills and lush scenery.

We traveled 170 until we reached Norris Freeway and then traveled back into Halls. We then stopped at the Fountain City Duck Pond to say hello to the ducks.

We then headed home. We arrived home at 3:15pm and our total ride was 139 miles.
