DAY RIDE

MARCH 6, 2012

On Tuesday, March 6th, we planned another Day Ride. Our destination- Athens, Tennessee.

We woke to absolutely beautiful blue skies and cool temperatures around 38 degrees. Before we left, Jeff showed Butter Bean the route.

Leaving our home in North Knoxville, we took Oak Ridge Highway to Oak Ridge. Once in Oak Ridge, we took highway 58 and made a gas stop.

After filling up, we continued on to Kingston where we took 58 South. We stopped on the bridge over Watts Bar Lake.

After taking some photos, we continued south. At 68, we turned left and then quickly turned onto 305 South which took us into Athens.

We rode down the parkway and into downtown stopping at Maddi Mas Deli and Cafe for lunch. The place looked fairly new and the folks were friendly. We both had the daily special- roast beef- and we both agreed the food was OK.

Before getting back on the bikes, we took a few photos of downtown Athens.

We got on the bikes and rode back through Athens. We then took 11 North which took us into Sweetwater. We stopped in Sweetwater for a short break.

After taking a few photos, we continued north on 11 traveling through Loudon and into Lenoir City. From Lenoir City, we took Martel Road into Knoxville.

We stopped in at Harley Davidson West to see all the new bikes. After visiting with the Harley folks we saddled back up. We took Pellissippi to Oak Ridge Highway, then to Clinton Highway and back to North Knoxville.

We got home around 4:30pm and our total ride was 147 miles. After we got home, we visited with our fur kids in the back yard.

And we noticed that the Bradford Pear trees are blooming. Spring is near!
