DAY RIDEAUGUST 3, 2011On Wednesday, August 3rd, we got up early to take another Day Ride. After saying good-bye to the girls, we left our home in North Knoxville around 9:30am.
We rode through Knoxville and then got on Alcoa Highway to head for the mountains. We rode down Alcoa Highway and continued on 129 through Maryville.
We stopped and filled up and continued on 129 riding until we arrived at the intersection of 129 and 72. Here we stopped at the 129 Pit Stop for a coke.
We continued on 129 and quickly made another stop at the Dragon Harley shop in Tallassee.
We stayed just a minute and then continued on 129 and took the Foothills Parkway.
We stopped a couple of times on the Parkway for pictures.
After leaving the Parkway, we took 321 to Maryville. We went downtown to eat but couldn't find a place to park the bikes, so we took Old Knoxville Highway back to Knoxville where we ended up at Rankin Restaurant on Central.
We only live a few blocks from Rankin, but had never eaten there before. The place has been there since 1953 and it had great home cooking. It's only open for breakfast and lunch, but if you're looking for good home cooking, we highly recommend Rankin restaurant in North Knoxville.
From Rankin, we rode the few blocks back home and ended our ride. We got back around 2pm and the total ride was just a little over 100 miles. Return to BIKE RIDES page. |
